About OIA

The Office of Institutional Analysis is part of the Analytics and Decision Support team within the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) unit. Our core mission is to serve New Mexico State University as the official source of data for internal and external audiences. It is our goal to provide timely and accurate data, information, and analyses to support data-informed decision-making across the university and the university system.

Institutional Analysis will only provide and support initiatives that fall within our mission to serve New Mexico State University’s senior and administrative executives by providing analytics and decision support services aligned with the strategic direction of the university. Our highest priority will be to serve the Chancellor, the President, the Provost, Vice Presidents, and Deans, respectively.

Institutional Analysis produces numerous reports, many mandated by state and federal agencies, about New Mexico State’s students, faculty, staff, courses, degree programs, and a wide variety of other subjects. Much of this information is available through the IA web site and can be used to support reporting activities performed by campus units. For information not readily available on our web site, Institutional Analysis can assist; however, we have adopted the following general operating guidelines due to variety and volume of requests received:

  1. We will provide only products and services that fall within our mission – to serve New Mexico State University’s senior academic and administrative executives by providing an effective analytical framework for planning and performance improvement.
  2. Our highest priority will be to serve the Chancellor, the President, the Provost, Vice Presidents, and Deans, in that order. This service includes assisting with or completing, on their behalf, mandatory reports to governmental and accrediting agencies. We will focus on using both regular and requested reports as occasions to support the work of the University’s senior leadership.
  3. To the extent possible within defined priority sequences, we will attempt to meet all requests for information and assistance that are consistent with our mission. For substantial studies, academic departments, or other units should submit their requests in writing through the relevant Data Trustee.
  4. We make commonly requested information available on our web site and other university enterprise reporting tools.
